Every day, viewers of our live wildlife cameras in the Peak District log what they spot on the streams: barn owls flying in with voles, tawny owls calling at dusk, badgers foraging, foxes passing through, deer in the woods, and woodpeckers, nuthatches and other woodland birds at the feeders. This page shows those sightings as they happen, along with who's spotted the most and which camera is busiest.

Our live wildlife cameras
- BarnOwlCam: our barn owl camera, where you can watch Buster come and go, roost by day and head out to hunt at dusk.
- MeadowView: our meadow camera, home to Miss B, a new female barn owl who's been having a good look around and often roosts in the box. Could she be Buster's new love and future mate? Watch this space, and log it in the chat if you see the two of them together!
- BadgerWood: a camera in a Peak District wood, busy with badgers and foxes at night and woodland birds by day.
- MultiView: all the cameras together on one screen, perfect for keeping an eye on everything at once.
What wildlife can you see on the live cameras?
- 🦉 Barn owls: best at dusk and through the night, when they leave to hunt and return with food. In spring and summer, watch for eggs, owlets and feeding.
- 🌳 Tawny owls: listen for their hoots and "kewick" calls after dark, especially in autumn and winter.
- 🦡 Badgers: usually appear after sunset, digging for worms and grubs.
- 🦊 Foxes: often seen at night and early morning, sometimes passing the camera several times.
- 🐦 Woodland birds: great spotted woodpeckers, nuthatches, blue tits, great tits, robins, magpies and more visit the BadgerWood feeders during the day, and mallards sometimes drop by too.
- 🦌 Deer and more: look out for deer, birds, squirrels and the occasional surprise visitor.
Why viewer sightings matter
Every sighting helps build a picture of when our wildlife is most active through the day and across the seasons. Older sightings are kept in the sightings archive, so you can look back at what was seen on any day, and see how the year has unfolded on the cameras.
Questions people ask
How do I log a sighting?
Watch one of our live streams on YouTube and use the sighting command in the live chat. See the chat commands page for how it works.
When is the best time to see wildlife on the cameras?
Dusk, night and early morning are usually the busiest times, as barn owls, tawny owls, badgers and foxes are mostly active in the dark. The cameras use infrared at night, so you can still see everything clearly.
Who is Miss B?
Miss B is a female barn owl who has recently started visiting, and often roosts in the box on our MeadowView camera. Viewers are hoping she and Buster will pair up, so keep an eye on both cameras for any signs of romance!
Which birds can I see on the live cameras?
As well as the barn owls and tawny owls, viewers regularly spot great spotted woodpeckers, nuthatches, blue tits, great tits, robins and magpies at the BadgerWood feeders, especially in the morning and afternoon.
