I went to get my Ryobi cordless planer from the barn to find a beautiful little robin had nested in the toolbox and was sitting on six eggs! I’ve quickly rigged up a camera, and the friendly little Robin was back on the eggs within minutes of me closing the door. It’s getting in and out of the barn through a damaged roof panel.
In the roof of the same barn in their nest box are two Barn Owls called “Buster” and “Mia” The robin’s nest is in a different section of the barn, so it should be pretty safe from the owls, but it is a little vulnerable if a neighbour’s cat gets in.
I do not know how long the robin has been sitting on the eggs, so they could be hatching anytime. We have had some very low temperatures recently, so I’m hoping as many hatch as possible.
If you want to find out what the temperature is, this link takes you to live weather data at the farm.
