Tawny Owls “Izzy” and “Toby” have moved into a nest box I’ve made from an old oak “whisky Barrel.” Initially, I made the nest box for Barn Owls, but after it got visits from several Tawnies, I tweaked the design to suit them, and it worked. Toby and Izzy have moved in and made it their home to raise a family. The female Izzy has laid a clutch of 3 eggs that she is now sitting on. Toby is not present full-time at the nest yet but brings Izzy food in the evenings to keep her well-fed as she dutifully incubates the eggs. In this video, Toby brings Izzy a vole after she calls him to say she is hungry; you can hear her calling out to him and Toby replying. Please put the sound on to listen to their wonderful communication.
